*Gold At Ten Feet*

This was me...

There is a movie, a tamil one... and its aptly named, in direct translation it means address but the meaning of it is meant to be direction... As in which direction is your life going to take... Aniwaes about that movie, i realli like the movie alot and i used to live my life by it.. In it the main actor is an aspiring music director, he wants to make it big in the cinema world, and he has been trying it for eight years, while he is very talented he doesnt get his one break...there is this one time due to a favour he manages to impress a producer and he even starts his first day doing his music shoot, but the producer meets with an accident and while the producer wasnt badly injured he thinks its a bad omen and cancels on the new music director.. and he is left on the streets again.. in the end due to circumstances he gives up his dream and gets a job....

This was what i always looked at, how whatever dreams i had never come true and each and every time its within reach something comes up and snatches it away from me, they say a dream unfulfilled follows you to your grave and if that is so i need a huge coffin as almost all my dreams have gone up in smoke.. Aniwaes i watched the movie again yesterday and i noticed another side... God gives everything equal... In the sense that if he hurts you its to enlighten you and he will also give you a silver lining.. in the movie he isnt tat rich, a typical middle class family but each and every member of the family supports him, his elder brother says you live your dream i will work for you too and he works night and day clocking every hour he can to make sure he makes more money, his sister in law dotes on him almost becoming a mother for him and fasting for him and pushing him each time he feels low, his younger sister young and innocent yet prays each day for her brother to make it big... his father tells everyone that he is very proud of his son even though he hasnt made it big yet and has no job..

One major example was when the elder brother gets a bonus from work, so he comes in and says what do we need to buy we shall buy, his wife says the younger sister's birthday is coming lets get her a new dress, the sister says sister in law saw this necklace she realli like but didnt buy cause it was costly lets get that, the father asks the elder brother to buy a new pair of shoes since his has faded quite a bit, and the elder brother says the father needs new specs... and they all know that the aspiring music director wants a walkman for his music(this movie came out in 1999). So they are in a fix and they decide lets draw lots, the aspiring music director wins because everyone wrote walkman in their slips...this unconditional love some define as agape love was very touching and its this that keeps him going... in the end he gives up his dream because his elder brother cannot work animore due to a stroke..and coincidentally he manages to get a chance in the media but he says all this while my life has gone in a direction due to the love of my family but its time i put in a direction for my family.....

So why the title gold at ten feet?
Well at one point right after he fails after almost snagging a chance, he almost gives up, his elder brother comes up and tells him a story, its about a man who heard a old wives tale that at this particular place at ten feet there is gold, so this guy decides to go dig, he digs and digs and he hits 6 feet on to 7 and than 8... but at that point he hears so much criticism and everyone around laugh and hurl scorn at him so he gives up... a while later another person saw such a big hole there and enquired about it, he decided to dig as well, he dug 9 feet and at ten feet the shovel hit metal on gold, as he carried all the gold back into town he shut everyone up....He illustrates this to his brother that no matter how much people talk and how much people make fun you fight on... never giving up, no matter how hard it is you fight to achieve your dream...

Coincidentally i have alot of people whu are giving up right now, after fighting 17 18 years of their life they give up now, i learnt from this movie i wish this would help you jer, eliz, ja cathy... in your lifes you fought so long and people always had so much to say, its time to let it all go and move on in life ya....
